Adalpus, that is his name. Adalpus Zook, grew up in the forest and easily made friends with every animal he ever met. He was unusually talented in understanding and handling all sorts of wild and domestic animals and spent many years as a boy tending to flocks and herds, helping with the dogs and all the animals around and within his forest home. As a boy he felt a Divine voice whispering in his heart and knew his class calling early on, but his father insisted he attend University.
So, he went to college. As a parting gift his mom gave him a 'Stone of Good Luck'. Turns out, he was an excellent student and excelled in all of his classes. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, 1st in his class, and soon was even on the faculty.
At the young age of 40 years, he was recognized as one of the top experts on the Divine, Arcane and Thaumaturgic history and origins of Arda. He called himself a Thaumaturgical Anthropologist. He has published several papers that have stirred up some very intense controversy among his fellow academics. Dr Zook has a theory that Sauron is still alive and can never really be totally destroyed. Many people immediately began questioning Dr Zook's methods to have come up with such a dark conclusion.
A bitter argument broke out with an older and more prestigious researcher and his work was discredited in a series of counter papers. Dr Zook was forced out of his faculty position and is now on a personal quest to prove that his theories are correct. Any opportunity to examine evil locations and evil creatures can help him in this research. He is looking to join a party of noble adventurers that he may continue his study of evil and it's Divine and Arcane roots and mysteries. A good friend at the University gave him a parting gift to help him on his quest, a 'Lantern of Revealing'. "You can't study something you can't see Adalpus!". PDF of current character
