Alisa (Ken)
Farin (Graham)
Sara (Nick)
Aldurienne (Jeff)
Wynfar (Jeff)
Ariel (Jon)
Dr Zook (jon)

The Gibbet King had turned the corpses of the orcs we slew a couple days earlier into zombies. So the fortress was manned again. We entered the fortress the same way as before sneaking around the back and over the wall. We easily slew the zombies on the wall with only minor scratches.

Dispel magic successfully opened the door and daylight dispelled the darkness revealing a room with 3 Uruks, 1 zombie Uruk, and GK himself.

Farin stepped boldly to the front playing the role of meat shield, Alisa ran in with Spirit Guardian up while the rest of us blasted the interior of the shrine with fireballs, arrows and guiding bolts. Despite this withering barrage Farin was pummeled to within 1 hit point and before the Uruks fell and the Gibbet King retreated through a secret door in the floor to a lower level.

I bunch of heals from the clerics and Farin was good to go again. A dispel magic managed to open the secret door to a chamber below the shrine.

Aldurienne dispelled the darkness with a daylight spell while Wynfar ran in but was paralyzed by by Gibbet King barely clinging to life. Alisa leaped off the stairs only to be trapped by massive magical leg irons used by GK to hold his victims when performing necromantic rituals. Undeterred, the party kept blasting GK with spells and arrows while Alisa kept concentrating on spirit guardian... He finally fell. (or at least stopped moving)

Victory seemed certain, but we were not done. Using locate object we were able to locate an extremely powerful elvish dagger than when picked up by Aldurienne, guided us to open the sarcophagus and plunge the blade through the desiccated corpse of BK himself and through his black book of necromancy which he clung to in his grave.

The body and book crumbled to dust before our eyes, then the entire fortress began to shake. The party fled the fortress barely escaping before the buildings and even the hill crumbled into a pile of rock and gravel burying whatever remained of the Gibbet King's evil.

Some more details…
Treasure
Elven Blade, “Ulariri Nehtar”, long dagger (18”), mithril, enchanted.
1d8, +3 HP/Dam, +5 vs Undead, crit 18-20, 20 vanquishes any Undead.
It glows blue, faintly if Undead are within a one mile area, more brightly the closer it gets to Undead. It is also capable of destroying some (but not all) Necromancy Artifacts.
It is semi-sentient and will help the holder to slay Undead and destroy Necromancy. It can only be held in the hands of an elf (and some half-elves).
The Elven Blade was crafted and used by a Lothlorien elf, Isilya, who lost family members to the Necromancer and his Jailor, vowing his revenge. Over almost a century, he patiently crafted the blade (with help). Then, when the Gibbet King finally had to run from Dol Guldur on the way to the Dwimmerhorn, Isilya almost successfully assassinated the GK as he went through the Woods. Realizing such a Blade was his bane, he kept it (and Isilya’s other items) secreted away and under very close watch, unable to destroy the Blade.
Cloak of Elvenkind
Boots of Elvenkind
20 mitril pieces (2000 gp min. value, enchantable, craftable, +2 base)
Experience: +0.15 levels. The most active players are 5.55.

The Chain of Thangorodrim (which is now buried in rubble is a relic of great power. Forged in the Elder Days by the Dark Powers, it was used to enslave proud, rebellious dragons, originally in Mount Gram before being moved to Dol Guldur, then the Dwimmerhorn. Weighing tons in dark-wrought iron, it sought its victims with its clasp, who would then be robbed of their will and enslaved to the chain’s master.
You guys are tough with a large toolkit of magic and abilities and it will be an interesting challenge as GM to come up with comp that can match you guys combined in combat. Knocking off GK is a major achievement.
Your next major stop will be Lothlorien!
At your service,
Mark
